A Beautiful Fall Weekend

I'm getting ready for church this morning. Michael and I are in charge of communion and we have some really neat things planned. The Lord's Supper is a time of fellowship and community along with remembrance and is a deeply spiritual and historical event going all the way back to Egypt and Moses. We are looking forward to it.

Yesterday after I went to the Deaf Women's Fellowship (which was wonderful!) I came home and picked up Michael. Mazen was dozing in the car so we did a few errands. Michael had spent all morning raking leaves. Ugh. It's just WRONG to have so many leaves! We came home and all three of us helped Daddy finish raking and bagging leaves. When we were done I think we had gone through 30 bags! 45 gallon bags! Whew! Mazen was a big help. :) I took some pics and video. I'll put the pics up soon.

Michael and I are really sore this morning. We went to bed just before 10 pm on a Saturday night exhausted! Mazen had us up at 6 am. As usual.

I enjoyed yesterday so much. The weather was phenomenal, in the mid 60's. I had fun bagging leaves and watching Mazen and Michael. This time last year I helped blow leaves some. It wasn't easy and I was in much more pain than I am today, but I was determined to do some of it last year. And I remember day dreaming about a year from then raking leaves with our baby crawling around the grass.

Sure enough, yesterday was like a dream come true. In the midst of working hard, I just had these moments of looking up and watching Michael bag leaves, talk to Mazen, and hand her a leaf to play with. Then I watched her watch us. She grabbed the rake and played with it and yelled at it. She crawled around to be near us. Grass stains on jeans and dirt on her tennies. It was a beautiful sight to me. I even got teary eyed. God hears not only our prayers, but our dreams and heart desires and answers them in profound and very real ways. I have an amazing family and I am so blessed.

Here's a Picture of Mazen with Grandma & Grandpa during their visit in October. They were on their way to a Twins game. (Obviously!) It was one of the playoff games against the Yankees. Grandma has her homer hanky on her neck! And Grandpa is wearing his new birthday Twins shirt and hat. This day was Grandpa's 70th Birthday and he shared the whole weekend with Mazen and us!

Barbara - thank you so much for the visible reminder of this. Sometimes when you're still in the prayer stage, it's hard to see the whole picture. I look at your family and can see blessings poured out and prayers answered. Thank you for being the visible gospel to us.
